You received this message because as we previously shared, we have joined forces with Checkout Finland to build a service that best meets the needs of Finnish online merchants and consumers. For the new service, we’ve picked the best aspects from both Checkout and Paytrail. The new, improved Paytrail will be available soon.

How is the new Paytrail better than the existing one?

The new Paytrail includes significant improvements, and the service will enable the implementation of new features faster than before. This will ensure that the service meets future expectations as well. Here is a list of the biggest gems combined from Checkout and Paytrail services:

  • High-quality risk management processes
  • By far the most comprehensive range of payment methods (see Table 1 below)
  • Revamped Merchant Panel
  • Other new features for existing Paytrail customers (see Table 2 below)

Option 1. If the platform you are using already has the new Paytrail integration

We will be transferring existing Paytrail customers to the new service on an e-commerce platform basis and the transfers will start from autumn 2021. For some, the transfer won’t happen until after the new year. We will be in touch with you when your turn arrives.

Use of the new Paytrail will require some action from you. You will receive detailed instructions regarding the transfer later. Depending on the platform, we will provide either you or your platform provider with the credentials needed to activate the new Paytrail. In addition, we will send you activation instructions. Until then, the existing payment service will continue to be available to you.

Option 2. If the platform you are using does not yet have the new Paytrail integration

We will be transferring existing Paytrail customers to the new service on an e-commerce platform basis and will work with platform providers to make the service available to you as soon as possible. The new Paytrail will be available to you as soon as the e-commerce platform you are using supports the new interface. We will then be in touch with you. You can also inquire about the implementation schedule from your platform provider.

Use of the new Paytrail will require some action from you. You will receive detailed instructions regarding the transfer later. Depending on the platform, we will provide either you or your platform provider with the credentials needed to activate the new Paytrail. In addition, we will send you activation instructions. Until then, the existing payment service will continue to be available to you.

Option 3. If you have your own integration to the existing Paytrail

To transfer to the new Paytrail, you will need to integrate the new interface to your online store. The existing interface will be decommissioned in the summer of 2022.

The technical documentation for the new Paytrail will be officially released during September 2021. We will contact you when the documentation is ready and provide instructions for implementing the integration.

How will the change affect service agreements or pricing?

The new branding will have no effect on your service agreement or fees.

According to the terms of the agreement, Paytrail must notify merchants of an interface update at least 6 months before the actual deadline for the implementation of the interface. This message serves as the required notification as per the terms of the contract.
