Shop-in-shop makes multi-party payment distribution seamless and automatic. The main idea is simple: the platform owner or parent company manages the website, while the connected businesses automatically  receive their share of each payment.

Below are some example use cases.

The platform owner manages the marketplace and acts as the admin, while businesses sell their products as sub-merchants within the Shop-in-Shop solution. A single shopping cart can include products from multiple sellers, and settlements are automatically distributed to the right parties. The platform owner can also apply a predefined commission to each transaction if needed.

A sports club can act as the admin and create sub-merchant accounts for individual teams. This allows season fees, merchandise, and tickets to be paid through a single online service, with funds automatically routed to the correct teams.

An organization can act as the admin and create sub-merchant accounts for its business units, departments, or subsidiaries. Payments collected through a shared website or platform are automatically routed to the right internal accounts, reducing manual work and improving financial transparency.

An event organizer can act as the admin and create sub-merchant accounts for vendors, partners, or internal teams. This allows ticket sales, food, merchandise, and services to be paid through one platform, with funds automatically distributed to the correct recipients.

  1. The consumer completes the purchase using their preferred payment method. The order may include products or services from multiple merchants.
  2. Paytrail receives the full payment, calculates the correct shares, deducts the admin’s commission, and routes funds to the sellers.
  3. The admin automatically receives their commission.
  4. Each seller is paid their share, with any transaction fees and admin commission already deducted.

Paytrail transfers the funds directly to the companies that provided the goods or services. The admin does not handle the payments and does not need a payment service provider license from the Financial Supervisory Authority.
