Can you give me my Visa from my handbag over there?

A modern person is on their sofa and wants comfort. They have a handy mobile device in their hand and lazily surf the bit highways looking for the meaning of life - or the next cheap thrill.

Sometimes a modern person also gets involved in more boisterous entertainment: they submit to web shopping. They remember a product that was praised in thaPaytrail-linda-saukko-rauta-verkko-ostaminen-800pxt one good blog and rush to look for it from the offering of online stores. Comparison is easy, if they can be bothered to do it, but often it’s more convenient to fall back on buying an equivalent product from a regular store where they’ve bought things from before.

Why is a modern person satisfied with a regular store?

Because purchasing has been made difficult.

Because generally online stores require you to register as a customer and the regular store is the only one that the brain of the modern person, tired from their hectic life, can remember their login details for.

Because a modern person would not like to register any more as a user of any service, shop or boutique, because they would not like to have to remember any more passwords or get any more advertisements and spam mail in their e-mail inbox.

Because the handbag is far away in the hallway and the wallet is in the handbag and somewhere amongst the lunch meal receipts there’s a Visa card, the number of which has to be entered once again by typing it on the not-so-conveniently-adapted touch screen of the mobile device.

The worst competitor of the web store is not necessarily an actual physical shop or another online shop, but the situation in which the customer goes without buying the product at all.

I am (of course) that modern person. I’m living a busy lifestyle and managing various schedules. I would rather do it from my own sofa if it was made easy.

The people at Paytrail showed me a demo version last year and after that I haven’t really wanted to shop on the web because now I know how easy buying could be.

So dear web sellers, a few tips from a customer:

  • It would be nice if it wasn’t necessary to register separately as a customer.
  • It would be nice if it wasn’t necessary to remember yet again another super-secret set of IDs.
  • It would be nice if payment was easy and didn’t depend on the location of my handbag.
  • It would be nice if everything worked smoothly – also with mobile devices.
